Brightside Academy Welcomes Dr. Sherone Smith-Sanchez as NY Region President

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Sherone Smith-Sanchez, Ed.D, MA, MSc, BFA, has joined the Brightside Academy family as President, New York Operations beginning in April 2017.

Dr. Sanchez received her Doctorate in Education Administration from Teachers College at Columbia University. In addition, she holds a Master of Arts in Education Administration and Organizational Leadership from Columbia University, a Master of Science from Bank Street College of Education, and a Baccalaureate of Fine Arts from Parsons the New School for Design. She also holds a variety of certifications including:

• NYS School District Administrator
• NYS Permanent Teacher Certification
• NYS Permanent (N-6)
• NYS Permanent in Art (K-12)
• NYC Department of Education (Common Branches)
• NYC Department of Education (Art Education)

Prior to joining Brightside Academy, Dr. Sanchez spent two years at Lutheran Social Services of New York. Before that, she dedicated 14 years to working for the City of New York at ACS, spending several years as the Assistant Commissioner of Program Development where she was responsible for co-creating and implementing EarlyLearn NYC. Brightside Academy CEO, Martin Handler, shared “I believe Dr. Sanchez is the perfect choice to lead our New York operations and I am excited to welcome her arrival!”

Dr. Sanchez’s office will be located at the recently inaugurated Brightside Academy New York Resource Center at 683 Barbey Street in Brooklyn. We welcome Dr. Sherone Smith-Sanchez, Ed.D, MA, MSc, BFA and together look forward to making a great impact on our New York families and staff this year and beyond!
