BSA Welcomes New VP of Intervention and Developmental Services

Brightside Academy is proud to announce that Ms. Shawna Starling, BSED, MSODL will be joining our organization as Vice President of Intervention and Developmental Services. As an educator and leader for the past 22 years, Shawna brings with her a broad scope of experience within special education, trauma informed practice, organizational psychology and adult learning principles. She also possesses knowledge in specialty areas such as parent education, infant-mental health practices, social emotional learning and self-regulation intervention methods. 

Shawna aspires to nurture BSA’s staff, promote optimal growth and development in children across their life-span, and to strengthen the family context for growing children to thrive. She  believes educators are instrumental in helping our communities overcome the impeding socioeconomic risk factors that negatively impact the growth and development of young children. 

“All children are capable of learning and what we do today as leaders, educators and professionals for our children will significantly impact their lives throughout adulthood. By investing in the lives of children and families today as members of society, we are diligently working to build stronger communities tomorrow.” shared Shawna. 

As Vice President of Intervention and Developmental Services for BSA , Shawna is excited to be in a position where she and her team can deliver high quality supports to children and families through working with our educational professionals within their learning environments.
