Dekalb Families Receive Book Fairies Donation

(Brooklyn, NY, February 17, 2015) – Brightside Academy’s 844 Dekalb Avenue, Brooklyn location received book donations from The Book Fairies for its child care location and the families enrolled at the academy. The Book Fairies, a not-for-profit organization, visited the location on February 13, and donated eight boxes of books.

During the visit, founder of The Book Fairies, Amy Zaslansky, read to each age group. The children were able to choose three books to take home to read with their families. The remaining books stocked the Brightside Academy classrooms.

“The children were so excited to be able to pick any three books they wanted and keep them. The parents were very appreciative and were shocked when the children brought the books home. The teachers were also thrilled to get eight boxes of books and were able to fill their classroom libraries with new books. The Book Fairies provided books which complement our curriculum themes allowing us to focus on literacy and curriculum both at the academy and at home with the families,” stated Meredith Feldman, Academy Director at the DeKalb Avenue location.

The Book Fairies collects reading materials and distributes books throughout metropolitan New York. The organization will be visiting other Brightside Academy locations in the spring, and will once again donate books to the academies and families.
